Doing things you don’t necessarily want to or aren’t comfortable doing can improve your personal growth and performance massively. Stepping outside your comfort zone will make you a better person, better business person and more successful. Stop being stagnant and put yourself out there.
Here’s five different things you can do to step out of your comfort zone to make you a better business person.
Get up early
Getting up earlier than normal can push you out of your comfort zone. If you get up an hour or two before you have to start getting ready for work, you have the time improve yourself by reading a book, watching videos, exercising or simply improving your mood for the day by doing something you want to do. Doing something you want to do early in the morning can mentally prepare yourself for the day ahead and put you in a good mood when many people are usually grumpy and just waking up.
Accomplish an impossible goal
Goals that seem impossible usually aren’t. But achieving something you thought was impossible is an amazing feeling. Impossible goals could be things like running a marathon or giving a keynote speech at a conference. Create a goal you think is impossible and will force you to be out of your comfort zone, then spend your time working towards this goal.
Focus on one thing at a time
One thing that can really slow down your productivity is multitasking. If you usually multitask, focusing on one thing at a time can feel like a challenge as you’re used to a certain way of working but try and focus on one thing at a time, don’t spread yourself too thin and create amazing work for each single thing you focus on.
Practice public speaking
Public speaking is usually the culprit when people ask ‘what is something that would put you outside of your comfort zone?’, so, this is what you should practice. It will help you improve your communication skills and, at work, help you win pitches, get more work done, and be more confident when talking to others.
Stop putting things off
Stop putting off all those things you said you would do, or the things you’ve wanted to do for a while. If you don’t do them now, you’re going to regret never doing them. Get out of your comfort zone and start doing things you’ve been putting off for years.
