A team of eight entrepreneurs and experts have banded together to launch an innovative veterinary app that Is set to revolutionise the UK and global market.
Founded in 2017 by the Leeds-based tech expert Paul Hallett and vet Robert Dawson based in Salisbury, the two of them have spent the last 18 months researching and developing their new business, Vet AI.
Vet AI’s flagship brand, Joii is set to bring med-tech to the homes of pet parents.
Paul Hallett got his first taste of business at the age of 12 when he was working on a market stall and has had a passion for business his whole life. After graduating from The University of Leeds in 2003, Paul then went onto set up a marketing business which exceeded a turnover of £1.8 million in just 18 months.
After becoming dedicated to improving and updating the animal health industry by putting it in-line with some of the ground-breaking innovations seen in human health, Paul approached one of the UK largest animal health companies in where he met his business partner, Robert Dawson. Robert brought with him 25 years’ worth of experience in the veterinary sector having treated thousands of animals.
What was found was the animal health industry is largely corporatised which results in pet owners unable to access regular affordable pet care and the two of them wanted to change this.
The duo have since been building a team of 20 industry experts including vets, PhD level data scientists and technology programmers. The team has a variety of experts, such as OBE award-winning entrepreneur Jonathan Sands, senior data scientist Trevor Hardcastle, Sarah Warren who is one of the most highly regarded veterinary dermatologists in the UK, former AI expert at Push Doctor Josh Septon and Monocle and Forbes-feature designer Guy Buchan.
Paul and Robert plan on employing another 30 people in the next year whilst continually growing their business to enhance how pets live.
Paul commented on his new venture:
“We’re dedicated to creating a business that genuinely looks after the people it recruits, to entrust and empower them to build extraordinary technologies that improve the lives of pet parents and owners.
“We are proud to harness the talent manifested in the Leeds region from data scientists and programmers to creatives, lawyers and academic experts. It is an absolute pleasure to be working with such a credible team and I am looking forward to the future of Joii.”
The firm is set to launch in 2019 and has goals set to reach Australia and US next followed by Europe and Asia.
