The Didsbury based coffee brand RCoffee, has launched a £23,000 crowdfunding campaign to help launch a new tea and coffee brand; Worker Bee MCR which was launched by the founder and managing director Roger McBride.
What the Worker Bee MCR can provide are two teas (one traditional, the other an infusion), three types of coffee (a Colombian single origin, a pure Arabican coffee and a Swiss water decaffeinated) and they’ll be swapping out regular sugar for honey sticks.
The aim is to have Worker Bee MCR to be stocked and sold in selected café, bars and offices throughout Manchester, with the creation of the 100 Club.
A 10% donation from wholesale tea and coffee sales will be given to two Manchester-based charities both of which focus on supporting community projects and helping the homeless, We Love MCR and Forever Manchester.
Roger is only seeking £23,000 on Indiegogo to bring Worker Bee MCR to life.
There’s a relatively simple and clear brand behind Worker Bee MCR; raise the standards of coffee and tea in both quality and experience to give something back to the city, encourage customers to buy locally produced products and get retailers to stock more local goods and services.
Roger said:
“We want Worker Bee MCR to be the best tea and coffee in Manchester. Over the last 12 months we have created a collection of bespoke tea and coffee blends, all premium products that will appeal to our discerning customers. We are carefully considering each and every venue and will be offering expert barista training to all coffee shops and cafes to help them sell better quality tea and coffee, and improve on every element of the serve, including customer service.
“We are committed to supporting local businesses and community initiatives, and Worker Bee MCR allows us to do just that on an on-going daily basis. We will be actively encouraging customers to choose independent businesses instead of frequenting the national retail chains, and at the end of every month, we will be donating significant sums to We Love MCR and Forever Manchester.”
There are a number of incentives that they’re offering for every pledge made to make Worker Bee MCR come to life, from branded merchandise to tea and coffee supplies.
Laura Baynham-Hughes from the Lord Mayor of Manchester’s Charity comments:
“The launch of Worker Bee MCR is very exciting and we are thrilled they have chosen to support the We Love MCR Charity. The concept of the brand is really unique and as a charity that supports Manchester communities we are delighted to be involved in this new product which Manchester can be really proud of.”
