Warm-hearted staff at the Saltaire-based company, Switch2 Energy have teamed up with local charities to donate gifts to local children in poverty and crisis this Christmas.
Over £300 worth of Christmas presents have been collected from Switch2 employees for local children who might not otherwise receive a Christmas present.
The Salvation Army with the Rotary Club of Shipley will collect the donated gifts and distribute them to local schools in the Bradford area.
Earlier this year, the Switch2 employees raised £3,147 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) by competing in the annual Bradford dragon boat festival. This helped the festival break its previous fundraising record to achieve a total of £55,000.
Switch2’s ‘Paddles of Fury’ team raised the most money out of all of the participants and it was the first venture into dragon boat racing for the novice rowing crew, who were delighted to achieve a personal best with their final race.
Throughout the year, the staff’s generosity has been incredible, by donating £500 worth of food, toiletries and sweet treats to the Harvest food festival at their local Bradford foodbank.
Kirst Lambert, the Director at Swith2 Energy said:
“We’re really proud of our charitable contributions in 2018”
“This follows hot on the heels of our epic Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in 2017, when we braced the driving rain to raise more than £4,000 for Yorkshire children’s cancer charity CandleLighters. We look forward to supporting our local community with new initiatives and challenges next year.”
